about

You've heard Linda Oláh on Pink Pamphlet before, as part of the intricate textures on Boréal's "Flora Can't See, Hear Or Speak But She Can Feel" (2011), but this is her official solo debut, and it could't be a more different or immersive experience. On this set, Oláh uses pretty much only her voice and some electronic processing to create a series of powerful vignettes, violently interrupted by the startling Stop Reasoning With My Heart I and II.. These pieces, most of which bear abstract titles like "composition" or "improvisation" don't betray Oláh's diverse interests, Avant-jazz and improvised music are fused with an almost folk-like sensibility and a dreamy nostalgic electronic vibe, suggesting a healthy diet of Delia Derbyshire and Raymond Scott may have brought her there and beyond. The record has a beautifully raw sound and presence which fuel its various trajectories. I invite you to take this truly bewildering trip into the mind of a fascinating new voice.
