Superman

from Cocktail Culture by Adrian Knight

/

lyrics

I’m at the screen again.
Been working like some machine.
And you are not my friends.
No no no, I’ve lost everyone of them
to a mean-hearted son of the devil.

I’m not Superman
but I have seen him once
and he looked just like me
with his brilliant shiny tan
and his teeth they shone.

I carry loaded guns
each day one in each of my hands
and when I look into the sun
I can hear my favourite band,
playing that same old song...

Oh superman where are we?
Who are your friends, all these lovely party friends?
Like it or not,
we live in different worlds,
but in the final end
we will be together again.

When I reach out for it
it just floats and stares.
Is it a counterfeit,
supposed to get me scared
of the possibilities in science?

And if you think that we’re done with you,
hang on... hang on tight...

I live in a box
underneath the stairs.
I work in the docks
and my share is fair,
though my family is a sly one.

Oh superman where are we?
Where are your friends, all your lovely party friends?
Like it or not, (who are your friends?)
we live in different worlds,
but in the final end
we will be together again.
Oh superman where are you?
Where are your friends, all your lovely party friends?
Like it or not, (who are your friends?)
we live in different worlds,
but in the final end
we will be together again.
